The wild, open swath of prairie at Vance Whidden Park is a good place to go in the early morning for birdwatching. The park is accessed via an unpaved road and there are no marked hiking trails, but you are free to roam. Canoe and kayak access are available, as well as picnic tables and an area for equestrians. A boat ramp will be added in 2010.
Access to the park is along off SR 78, 12 miles north of Moore Haven, directly across from Banana Grove Road on the lake side of the highway.
